Cracked tile is one of those problems that feels like it needs a full bathroom redo. It usually doesn’t. A single broken tile in the floor or shower can be cut out and replaced in a couple of hours — assuming you’ve got a spare from when the floor was first laid. (If you don’t, we’ll source a close match.)
What we do
- Remove the broken tile without damaging the surrounding ones
- Clean and re-prep the substrate
- Set the new tile, level with the surrounding floor
- Regrout — color-matched to the existing grout
- Seal grout where appropriate (showers, kitchens)
When tile repair beats a full re-tile
- One or two broken tiles in an otherwise solid floor
- Loose tiles where the thinset failed but the tile survived
- Grout that’s mildewed or cracked but the tile is fine
- Hairline cracks from house settling
For walls or floors with widespread cracking, we’ll tell you straight — re-tiling is the right call. Most of the time though, a single repair is the answer.
