# Over-the-Range Microwave Install


Replacing an over-the-range microwave looks simple — just slide the new one into the opening. In practice, it involves leveling, securing, venting, and a 240V electrical connection. These units are also heavy (50+ pounds), so proper mounting matters for safety and longevity.

## What we do

- Remove and safely dispose of the old OTR microwave
- Prepare the mounting bracket and secure it to the cabinet or wall
- Hang and level the new microwave in the opening
- Connect the vent ductwork to the exterior or internal circulation
- Wire the 240V electrical connection (if circuit and outlet are ready)
- Test all functions: burner, light, ventilation, and sensors

## OTR installation considerations

- Venting: does the unit vent outside, or recirculate through charcoal filters?
- Electrical: most OTR units need 240V; verify your kitchen has appropriate circuit and outlet
- Weight: most OTR units exceed 50 pounds (two-person job for safety)
- Backsplash height: verify the unit doesn't interfere with cabinets above or countertops below
- Previous ductwork: if your old vent doesn't fit the new unit, we adapt or reroute

The biggest variable is electrical — if you don't have a 240V circuit ready, that's electrician scope. Water and gas aren't involved, so the install itself is straightforward once the electrical is confirmed.
